New Version Eases Setup of Clustered Environments

Firewall and VPN with high availability and load-balancing features

(10.07.03) - Stonesoft Corporation (HEX: SFT1V) announced the release of version 2.2 of the StoneGateTM high availability firewall and VPN. The new version provides Drop-in Firewall Clustering (DFC), simplifying configuration and reducing installation time. Version 2.2's new DFC technology eliminates complex configuration requirements for clustered firewalls, enabling security administrators to effectively "drop" a firewall/VPN cluster into their existing network infrastructure. While StoneGate's built-in load balancing capability has always eliminated the need for external load-balancing devices, this new version improves operational efficiencies by easing coordination between security and network administrators.

According to Gartner Vice President Mark Fabbi, "Current solutions for clustered or load balanced firewalls require coordination between network and security operations groups. In the future, solutions that provide improved operational efficiencies for deployment, management and resource utilisation will be well positioned in the marketplace."

StoneGate is anenterprise firewall and VPN with high availability and load-balancing features built-in to ensure always-on business connectivity and throughput. The software incorporates fully integrated centralised administration for easier management, including support for distributed network environments.

Additional new features in StoneGate version 2.2 include category filtering, which simplifies and speeds security policy and configuration management for large enterprises and service providers. Other key enhancements include support for SmartCard-based authentication and increased application security for mobile VPN clients.
