Award Honors CEO for Challenging the Status Quo by Taking a New Approach to Encryption and Data Protection

(13.06.08) - Credant Technologies announced that its CEO, Bob Heard, has been named Renegade Entrepreneur for 2008 by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a global not-for-profit network of entre-preneurs and professionals dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship. The award was given at the "TiEcon" event earlier this month in Santa Clara, California.

Credant Technologies was formed in 2001 by Heard while he was working as an Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR) at Austin Ventures, to address what he saw as a growing threat – the loss of sensitive data on laptops and mobile devices. Heard’s ‘renegade’ approach took on the security industry status quo, with a new architecture - creating a centrally managed way IT administrators could encrypt data, using a policy-based approach, to secure against both insider and external threats.

Other winners for TiE’s 2008 Entrepreneur awards included:

·         Dr. H.P. Jin, TeleNav, for Most Inspiring Entrepreneur

·         Chet Farris, Stion, for Socially-Conscious Entrepreneur

·         Elizabeth Funk, Unitus, for Female Entrepreneur

·         Rajeev Goel, PubMatic, for Gen Y Entrepreneur

"I am honored to be recognized by TiE, along with this impressive list of fellow entrepreneurs," said Heard, founder and CEO of Credant Technologies. "This award is the result of the entire Credant team working hard to develop an innovative product that was able to disrupt the status quo in mobile data protection, and help bring Credant the success it has today."
